Yulen Alexander Pereira Ramos,

Born in Madrid on July 12, 1995, he is a Spanish athlete who competes in fencing in the épée category. He won a silver medal at the 2014 European Fencing Championships in the team event.


He is the son of Manuel Pereira, a Spanish fencer and world champion in 1989, who also trains him. He studied Psychology at the Catholic University of San Antonio of Murcia (UCAM). He trains at the Sala de Fencing in Valencia.

sports career

Her international career began in the 2009/10 season. At 15, she started training at the High Performance Center in Madrid. In 2013, she won her first medals in the under-20 category with a bronze at the European Championships and a silver at the World Championships in Poreč. In the 2013/14 season, she reached the top of the international junior rankings after achieving four podium finishes: three in the World Cup, with a gold medal in the Basel stage, and a silver medal at the European Junior Championships.


He won his first medal in the senior category, a team silver at the 2014 European Championships, alongside Miguel Moratilla, Pau Roselló, and Olympic medalist José Luis Abajo. In 2016, he participated in the European Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which awarded the final spot for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. He lost his semifinal bout by a single touch, 12-11, against Czech fencer Jiří Beran. That season, he won another medal, a gold at the European Under-23 Championships, and earned a scholarship from the ADO Program, which he also received in 2019.


In 2018, he won the gold medal in the individual event at the Mediterranean Games held in Tarragona.8 A year later, in 2019, he achieved his first individual podium finish in the senior category with a silver medal at the Doha Grand Prix, after losing in the final to Frenchman Yannick Borel.9
